Synopsis:
Brother A, a fictional Institute teacher for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, knows that his church uses a different definition of “agency” from the rest of the world. Through his research and study, he has developed a different view of agency over the years. He invites three of his students to meet with him after class and discuss various aspects of what he has learned. In the discussions that follow, they look at the meaning of agency, the way it has been used historically, and where the traditional LDS definition comes from. Brother A then applies the conventional definition of agency to the scriptural concept and shows his students how it is relevant to the teachings of the gospel and leads to new insights and connections between agency and other gospel principles.

“I believe the Lord used the existing concept of agency in a unique way to help us understand important and beautiful aspects of His gospel plan for us.” — Brother A.
